"Golden Compass" and Jonathan Coulton

Now there's a combo you don't see much. "Golden Compass" is 2 hours of very, very shiny. Well worth seeing and in line with what I can remember from the book.
Coulton is a programmer turned singer songwriter and the man who gave the world "Code Monkey" and "Re: Your Brains". He's got a post up about the concert on his blog - if you look closely at the photo, you can see elisem, Juan and me in the second row. http://www.jonathancoulton.com/

Jana (who has never read the book) came along with us (who had) and quite enjoyed it. She did have some good insights into Pullman's problem with the deux ex machina effect but we all agreed that it was an enjoyable movie
