It is Give to the Max Day once again here in Minnesota, which means it's your chance to give what you can to a bunch of terrific nonprofits, including arts organizations, civil rights groups, schools, animal welfare groups and numerous others. Every $ helps and can set your organization up to win additional funds and matching grants. I just gave to PFund (LGBTQ arts and cultural funding foundation), the MN Women's Foundation, Headwaters Foundation for Justice (funds organizations working on social justice in MN), Heart of the Beast Puppet Theater (they really need it this year! Donate for May Day as well as other terrific programs) and MN Center for Book Arts. Some other organizations that I belong to and donate to the rest of the year but which you could donate to today, if so inclined: OutfrontMN (LGBTQ political and educational organization). KFAI Radio (multicultural music, news and programming), Twin Cities Daily Planet (free email newspaper with local news), The International Wolf Center (research and education on wolves), Quatrefoil Library (LGBTQ library and archives), 20% Theater (LGBTQ theater company), The Loft Literary Center (writing, reading, education), Feline Rescue MN (kitty rescue) and Theater Unbound (theater by women!). So, lots of options including these and many more. Give and boost - it feels great!

Today is Give to the Max Day in MN, something a huge number of nonprofits depend on for additional funding. You can donate any amount from $10 upward and it makes your favorite nonprofits eligible for matching funds, prizes and other good stuff. I generally try and prioritize nonprofits that we interact with a lot like the MN Center for Book Arts, Rain Taxi Reviews and the Twin Cities Daily Planet, plus grant-giving organizations like PFund, the MN Women's Foundation and Headwaters Foundation, but there's a bunch of great stuff out there: schools, animal conservations, small theaters, arts organization, LGBTQ, immigrants, women's organizations and almost anything else you can think of. If you can, try and donate to at least one organization today.

And, in news unrelated to the Give to the Max Day, I'm a guest on this week's Howl Out Cast, a podcast dedicated to  all things werewolf.  The host and I talked for over 2 hours so this is the edited version, more or less. It's very live and spontaneous and I haven't listened to all of it yet. If you're listening around other people, headphones are probably in order, just saying. :-)
