Lit Writing Craft: Dialogue
Let's talk about dialogue. How do you make it sound like real people talking and not get off the track? A real conversation involves a lot of irrelevancies. In writing, particularly for short stories you can't afford to get too far from the point.
Melanie Alderson, Andre Guirard, Catherine Lundoff, Sean Murphy, Steve Ruthenbeck

Lit Women as Starship Captains in Fiction, TV and Media
Women starship captains were frequently walk-ons in the Star Trek universe, "Voyager" aside but there are plenty of other examples. Let's talk about the memorable ones and where we expect to see more women in the Captain's chair in the future.
Hugh Gregory, Bridget Landry, Catherine Lundoff, G. David Nordley, David Weber

Hey, I kinda like the idea of "Lounge Broad Universe". I suppose I should join, except that I haven't managed to get to conventions for a while (except Saints & Sinners, somewhat differently genred).

are you going to read rapidly for the audience?

Alas, we will in fact be reading at regular speeds and (presumably) without lounging. The "Lounge" part refers to the Literary Lounge on the 20 something floor of the Hotel Formerly Known as the Radisson South, occasionally also called the Sheraton South. But if envisioning us reading rapidly while lounging about makes you happy, please don't let me discourage yu. :-)

Readings @ the Con were great!

I really enjoyed the "rapid" readings -- but, I have to say, not one of you managed any where close to the speed with which I performed my first ever reading last December. (ah, nerves)

Seriously, though, thanks for all the work/effort, it was great to hear some "broads" reading!

Thank you so much! I forwarded your note on to the other writers so as not to hog all the fun.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it. :-)))
Incidentally, were you waiting with us for the room before we started or did you come in later on (just to put a face to the LJ name)?

Hi, I attempted a reply from my mail client but I don't think it worked. You'd think a software writer could figure these tings out.

:-(

Thanks for forwarding! And, I was waiting for the room to open with a group of folks, before the reading started.

Tx,
Tam

Oh cool. Hope to see you at future cons. If you haven't checked out WisCon yet, it's bunches of fun. :-)

Re: mail clients and such. I dunno - I break software all day and am continually amazed by the things that don't work the way they should or at all. :-)
