And finally, an actual personal post...
Jun. 12th, 2007 08:19 pmJust realized that I have no idea what I'm excerpting or how we're running the contest for the Thursday chat. Hopefully Jolie and Sherri have an idea. Should be exciting. :-)
Accomplishment for the weekend - finished my alternate history death of Christopher Marlowe story and got it out the door to submit for "Time Well Bent." V. pleased. Now I just need to finish the next story in time for the deadline I had to ask for extension on. Urgh.
We did manage to go catch Richard Thompson last night in St. Paul. It was a great show, though both of us like his acoustic ones better. He rocked out on some fun songs, old and new. I think the most powerful of the new ones is "Dad's Gonna Kill Me" (about Iraq) but I don't think I could listen to it over and over the way I do much of his other stuff.
The down side was that the sound was a lot louder than it needed to be and he likes a long guitar jam when he's amped up. Despite having spent a number of years living with a guitar god, I've never warmed up to them. A minute or two in and I've forgotten what song they were playing and mostly cease to care.
On the other hand, hey, it's Richard Thompson and I can listen to 'Beeswing' and '52 Vincent,'
among others, all day long and still love them. :-)

Date: 2007-06-14 03:44 am (UTC)I loved the 1000 Years show! I saw that, and I saw the acoustic show before it, where he played a couple of songs and was obviously toying with the idea.
