Coming up this weekend: I'm teaching a new class at Cat Rambo's Rambo Academy. No More Lone Wolves: Writing Characters in Community will be a discussion based class as well as an opportunity to look at your characters in relation to each other and to the world that you have built around them. It's also one of the classes included in Cat's new certificate program, under the World Builder category, if that's something you're pursuing. At any rate, it should be fun and there's room for more signups (and there are scholarships) so please check it out.

Been a full week so far. I'm making some decent progress on Blood Moon and I was just asked to do a Queen of Swords Press essay "package" for the Gay & Lesbian Review, now the G&L R, formerly the Harvard Gay & Lesbian Review. Need to get that done, plus some QoSP stuff done before C'monfluence kicks off, my project management certification class kicks off and the rest of October's events blossom into being.

On the personal front, I've had a rough week with migraines and sundry ailments so we're very much on the good days and bad days schedule. I am making lots of good progress on stuff though and am looking forward to taking a bit of time off to watch "Enola Holmes," which looks like fun. I'm enjoying what I've read thus far of Queen of Swords Press submissions and hope to have more news on that front in the nearish future. And our mushroom logs took off, which I'm pretty excited about.

And this isn't taking into account all the external "fun." Going to be quite the winter from the looks of things. Hang in there, folks.

It's been a lively week. I survived my first week at my new job, which given that it's my first new job in 7 years, I'll take as a win. More adaptations ahead!
  • Big news! Another installment of my historical f/f pirates and spies stories has been accepted for Heather Rose Jone's LHMP Podcast! "Cardinal's Gambit" takes Jacquotte Delahaye and Celeste Adele Girard to 16th century France and into the webs of Cardinal Mazarin. You can read the original story, "The Letter of Marque," at Curious Fictions and read or listen to "One Night in Saint Martin" at the LHMP Podcast here.
  • I've also been invited back to Multiverse Con in Atlanta! Looking forward to seeing what Year 2 will be like.
  • Not sure if my "Breaking Out of the Slush Pile" class will carry, but if you or someone you know if looking for an online class like this, please send them over to Hidden Timber Books by the 6th to register.
  • Just sent in the final edits for The Voyages of Cinrak the Dapper by A.J. Fitzwater! Ebook preorder is up, print is coming soon.
Otherwise, adding events, wrangling taxes, adapting to a new schedule and trying to get back to writing. And trying to do some bits of good in the world. Hang in there, everyone.

Just finished off recording a new podcast interview with Wayne Goodman, host of Queer Words. My interview will be up on 10/22, but there's lots of other interesting interviews out on his site. I'm looking forward to checking out some new-to-me queer authors!

And my class, "Breaking Out of the Slush Pile," just opened up for registrations. I'll be teaching online via Zoom for Hidden Timber Books, a lovely small publisher that I met up with when I was at the Untitled Town Book Fest in Green Bay in April. The class will happening on 11/10, from 1-2:30 CST and will include lecture and Q&A on some techniques to get your work noticed for the right reasons.

And now to collapse and watch Wynonna Earp for a bit.

Less than 2 weeks left to sign up for my Loft Literary class on writing good sex scenes. This one is in person, but if there's enough interest, I'll look at doing an online version later in this year. https://www.loft.org/shop/product_detail/2/classes/79/inflagranti_delicto_writing_good_sex_scenes/
