Actually got sleep last night! First time all week that I managed to not wake up or get woken up at 4:30 AM (yes, I know this is a normal time for some folks - but I'm not one of them). Very pleased.
It's been a productive week with some fun spots. We went to go see Art Cars on Saturday. Art Cars for those of you who live places where people don't decorate their cars on the grand scale are cars which are painted, sculpted or altered in some way, usually with a theme. Here in town, we have a Harry Potter car, a Bayeux Tapestry car (though that may have moved out of state), a truck entirely covered with corks from the owner's waitressing job, a Yellow Submarine and at least one car covered in Astroturf, among others. In short, oodles of fun.
Next week, we're hopefully off to puppet performance at the Midtown Farmer's Market, featuring puppets made out of "found"/dumpster-dived materials.
We also went to the Textile Center to check out art cloth, which is pretty interesting. The cloth is taken and overdyed and printed and occasionally sculpted. Not unlike an Art Car without the exhaust and the plastic lizards (which are very popular).
My LJ day at Torquere resulted in the beginnings of a new m/m piece which may or may not go anywhere but was fun to try. You can view it in the torquere_social journal for 7/22 if so inclined. My thanks to squashed for requesting it. :-)
Work total for this week: one completed short story draft (which puts me at 6 new short stories since February! A personal best!) and completed first drafts of my 2 encyclopedia articles. Huzzah!

Oooh, invisible nighttime cars - very bad idea. Bet it looks cool in daylight though. If you went the route they take here, you'd probably cover it with glitter and/or little tiny mirrors to go with the lizards. My personal local fave is the minivan turned gryphon - it's covered in blue fake fur and glittery wings as well as assorted gryphons (plastic, not real) on the dashboard.
Here's the main site with links to photos - http://www.artcarparade.com/

I've occasionally thought about making one of my cars an art car but haven't had the energy so far.
