Randomness...
Aug. 23rd, 2008 02:29 pm- Job hunting has officially commenced. Send good thoughts.
- Hit the Rain Taxi Review of Books (http://www.raintaxi.com/) soiree on Wednesday with my friend Randi. Randi is also the cover artist for Haunted Hearths; she donated her pencil sketches for the cover to the silent auction so we went to be supportive and do the see and be seen thing. This mostly consisted of hanging out with each other and chatting with people we already knew. :-)
- sat around and watched The Jane Austen Book Club, which I enjoyed more than the book, and In Bruges last night. The latter is one of those films where you loath most of the characters, yet find it too fascinating to turn off. Yes, this sort of doublebill is common in our household.
- Went to Spoonriver Resturant this morning - thumbs down: sad little overdone poached eggs, sadder veggies, missing condiments, lousy coffee and all of it several $ more than it should have been. This is our 3rd mediocre to bad meal here so we're writing this restaurant off. Then we walked next door to the Mill City Farmer's Market. Good selection on the latter, rather overpriced, but we'll be doing lots of cooking now that we have a stove again. Homemade pesto, here I come.
- Off to Pi tonight to the Smitten Kitten birthday celebration with Tristan Taormino. Tristan is doing a screening/discussion, of her new film "Chemistry." SK website says 6PM, PI says 7. Splitting the diff and planning on being there at 6:30.
- Will be participating in the Amazon Bookstore Grand Reopening on Saturday, September 13th. Amazon (soon to be True Colors Books) has new owners and a whole new style. Starting at 2PM, Nell Stark, Lynn Ames, Lyda Morehouse, Sias Bryant and I will be reading in a couple of shifts. I'll post the schedule when I know what it is. The reading will be a mix of presumably lesbian romance (yes, I'm planning reading some of my nonerotic romance, possibly with werewolves, possibly without), spec fic and I'm not sure what else, but should be worth attending. I read with Nell at GCLS and you definitely want to stop by for this; she's good. Lyda is always interesting and Lynn's a lot of fun. Don't know Sias yet but looking forward to it.
