just went out on the Foshay Tower (oldest skyscraper in Minneapolis - very art deco) observation deck and got divebombed by a hawk. Fortunately there's a barrier but it was pretty amazing to see one that close (about 2 feet away) even if it was out to get me and the guy working on the deck. :-)
No more downtown for a while for me anyway since I'm off to go work in the burbs.

Sounds like there must be a nest nearby to defend. Peregrine falcons, maybe? They've adapted quite well to urban life in many places (all those tasty pigeons!) and urban dwellers have adapted to them, sometimes going so far as to install webcams to watch the nestlings.

Yep, that's what I figured. Just as glad to have the bars between me and it though, even it is beautiful and fun to look at. :-)
