but it looks like my succubus story "Emily Says" from "Lust for Life" has been picked for "Best Lesbian Erotica 2007." :-)))
Or at least it's in the press release so hopefully wacky things like a contract are forthcoming. This will make my 8th overall "Best of...", including the various Alyson ones and "Best New Erotica," and my 5th BLE so I'm very pleased.

. I could probably be prevailed upon to send you a copy of the story in question without any arm-twisting whatsoever. And hopefully it's not going to be a repeat of the year that one of my other stories got "accidentally" accepted for both BLE and BNE only for me to be told it was a clerical error. I'm figuring it's provisional until an actual contract shows up. :-)

So here I was debating whether to own up to having sent a story to BLE this year, since if you'd heard and I hadn't, it meant I was out. I expected to be out, in fact; the best things I've written this past year are for books I couldn't be sure would be published in the right time period. But I did send one I hadn't finished in time for another anthology and still don't think I got right--the only three-dimensional (and possibly four-dimensional) character is the Grand Canyon--and late this afternoon I got the "finalist" e-mail. Maybe it's my turn to play the clerical error game! We'll see. After five years in and three out, I've adjusted to the likelihood that T and I are going our separate ways, and my way has been just fine. It'd be really nice to be in it with you, though.

Hopefully we both get in. I seem to be on the 'a few years in, a few years out' schedule. The only stories of mine that get in are the ones where the POV character dies or turns into a vampire or turns into a giant lizard, and there are only so many of those I can write and sell elsewhere. :-)

And the current update on this is that I'm a "finalist." Eagerly awaiting the moment when I find out whether or not someone just got overly happy on sending out press releases or the pr is right and everything else is just noise and music. Gotta love the writing life. :-)
