And my weekend is made

Just ran across this out on the Diva Magazine (http://www.divamag.co.uk/diva/) whilst questing for places to send Haunted Hearths for reviews. Diva runs its own online store which sells Crave among other works and needful products - http://www.libertas.co.uk/.
Some kind soul wrote this down for a review. Am filled with that happy sense of "Gosh, people do actually read all this stuff I keep cranking out." :-D
Thank you, michelle36!

Big fan!
I have always been a big fan of Lundoff's stories, and this collection doesn't disappoint. Keep writing Catherine!

Date: 2008-03-23 09:33 pm (UTC)We'll definitely give it a shot. It can be quite...challenging to get nongenre publications to review genre books but we may be able to get something to work out. Haunted Hearths has a very international group of contributors (2 in New Zealand, 2 in Canada, you in the UK, 1 contributor originally from Laos, 1 transplanted Canadian living elsewhere) so I'd love to be able to get some publicity outside the U.S.
I'll keep everyone posted! And let me know if you know of anything I should be checking out, please.

Date: 2008-03-23 10:10 pm (UTC)I got an Amazon Kindle a while back, and yours was one of the first books I bought for it. I didn't quite realize what I was getting myself into. I don't recommend reading all of Crave over a 48-hour period, not if one is to, y'know, have a life. But that's what I did, and luckily folks around me were understanding. I was so impressed. Your stories are so very charming. Do keep them coming, please. :-)

Date: 2008-03-24 12:59 am (UTC)One of the down sides to being a small press author is that you don't always know if anyone's reading your work, let along liking it so it's wonderful to hear from folks who are doing so.
As for posting in my LJ, make yourself at home. People pop in and out a fair amount. If I get really swamped, I may not get a chance to respond or post, for that matter, but as long as no one's doing anything uncouth, we're good. Quite a bit of it is just me going on about whatever is shiniest at the moment.
I'm guessing that you're a writer also since we're in some of the same groups. Would I have I run across any of your work?

In all honesty, probably not, not unless you were an active Internet reader circa 1995-1998. That's how long I've been scribbling all over the web. The vast majority of my stuff is confessional and self-published. I ran an experimental "zine" of sorts called Colors (http://colors.kia.net/) that people seemed to like (and that probably won't work as designed now, it was aimed at 90's-era browsers) and a number of other smaller things that I've since retired.
My one attempt at submitting work for pay resulted in a sale at Clean Sheets. So my acceptance record is good, if not my volume. I sold it under a pseudonym and I'm surprised I did, because it's overwrought and not my best work. But it's over here (http://www.cleansheets.com/fiction/mentis_01.18.06.shtml) if you're curious.
I'd count me in the writer-wannabe category. I'm trying to get it together enough to publish more often than once a decade, hence the group membership, market-watching and perhaps common LJ-friends.

Oh, and mroctober is my publisher, not some completely random soul wandering in to ask about Kindle.

And oddly enough, I'm used to random souls wandering in to ask about the Kindle. But I'm glad for the extra context!

Date: 2008-03-26 06:25 am (UTC)I love my Kindle. It has one annoying issue, in that someone went overboard making sure that the Next/Previous page buttons are plentiful and accessible. As a result it's a little difficult picking up the damned thing without accidentally turning the page.
That said, the ink is brilliant, the size is perfect, the portability aspect is great. What takes this from a kind of "Meh" experience to the blissful, joyous adventure that it is, is the built-in wi-fi. After almost 15+ years in tech, I don't go ga-ga over devices often anymore. The Kindle's changed my life. The ability to satisfy a reading urge anytime, anywhere is astonishing. Honestly, it's one of those features that's self-explanatory but that can't be truly appreciated until one experiences for oneself.
So I suppose I enjoy the Kindle :-)
