New year not off to a great start

Jana's dad called first thing this morning - her mom's been hospitalized again. It sounds like she may have had a stroke but they're not sure yet. She's severely diabetic and her blood sugar's been going way up over the last few days. We're spending the day hoping for the best and waiting on calls.

Wishing Jana's mom a breakthrough.
When I reunited with my daughter Liz, I learned that some time during our long silence, her boyfriend's (now husband's) mother had to have a double-lung transplant and was not expected to survive. But she pulled through, and sounded hearty on the phone when she told me about the birth of our mutual grandchild. (I still haven't met her in person.) Miracles can happen.

Well, she's never going to get better unfortunately; her diabetes is too advanced. There may be a reprieve though - things sounded a bit less dire tonight than this morning. The doctors still arent' sure but are hoping to get things under control tonight.

Thanks for the well wishes, everyone! Jana just got off the phone with her sister and things sound slightly better than they did this morning. Her mom is still in intensive care and they haven't been able to do much with her dialysis but she's conscious and trying to talk and is able to move all her limbs. Hopefully tomorrow brings better news.
