Launching into a brave new week

•  Yesterday's MN Spec reading went well. I spent part of last week whipping up a new performance piece (what I call my short pieces of fiction which are not intended to be submitted, only read for short timeslots) about unicorns, distraction, the writing process and all that. It was based on an email from the reading organizer - he took it well and I autographed my copy of the story and gave it to him as a memento. :-) The readings were pretty good - about 8 people reading 5-10 minutes each and a jolly time was had, as far as I could tell. Video to follow when it is unleashed upon the world. It was also my last scheduled reading for this year.
  
• I built a reading list on Goodreads for Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror with queer female protagonists that I've read, liked and read as queer text (translation: I had to remember the protagonist as somewhere on a queer continuum, which doesn't always happen). It's in progress and I'll keep adding to it, but if you're looking for things to read in this area, there's likely a few works and authors on there that you might want to check out, provided my personal taste is in line with yours.
• One of the things that I've been up to in my copious free time over the last decade is so is award-judging. I don't do a gigantic amount of it, but as I'm currently wrapping up a new round of reading and it's mostly in paranormal and sfnal romance and erotica, I figured I would do a blog post on Things to Consider Not Doing. Just in time for NaNoWriMo (which I am not doing).
  
• Things I am doing: one half of a joint presentation proposal on on Accessibility and Aging in Tech to one of the local developer conferences. More on that if we get accepted.

Other than all this, trying to survive a really grueling month. Last week was pretty grim on the day job and health end, but hoping this week will be better. In the meantime, I have to follow up on a bunch of press stuff and article proposals and another story or two. More bulletins soon.
