My essay on being an older woman working in IT is out at Model View Culture!
As with many other fields, being an older worker in IT is assumed to have a male default. I went looking for something similar and could find zip, nada, zllch, despite knowing bunches of women over 40 working as QA, developers, PMs, security analysts, sys admins and so forth. Here's hoping this launches more discussion!
In other news, after 2.5 years of trying to sell (or even give away) my mother's giant Victorian sideboard, the second set folks who pinged me off Craig's List yesterday fell madly in love with it, paid me on the spot and zipped off with it in their van. So very happy to see it go to a new good home where people can appreciate and use it. Now back to garage sale organization to try and shed some more stuff, hers as well as ours.
