Or at least the fun and more interesting ones.

- Reading
Eliza Haywoods' The Female Spectator essays. Haywood was one of the most prominent early English women novelists (1693-1756), and along with plays, novels and essays, she published a newspaper for women, with most articles written by herself, from 1744-1746. Utterly fascinating woman who, given the times, gives eminently sensible and well-expressed advice. Now I want to read her fiction. As an aside, she was successful enough that dear old Samuel Pepys trashed her as a slut. Some things never change...
- Belle opens this weekend (at the Uptown) and I'm very psyched to go see it. The film is a version of the story of  mixed-race English semi-aristocrat, Dido Elizabeth Belle, who was one of Austen's contemporaries and at the center of the struggle to get the slave trade outlawed in England.
- Walking Shadow Theater Company is doing a production of The Three Musketeers at The Guthrie and I am going, despite my strong feeling that every show I've ever seen at the G was dumbed down (within recent memory, they had frickin' Lydia "explain" the humor in Pride & Prejudice and their HMS Pinafore was not exactly sophisticated, even by the standards of most G&S productions). I got sucked in by the play's advertising, which features a woman as D'Artagnan, but apparently, that was too scary and is not actually something we will actually see in the play. Which does not predispose me to like it. But I've liked several of Walking Shadow's other productions, though not the last one I attended, so we'll see how this goes.

Other than this, I am writing, attempting to deal with Mom stuff (we have an official Alzheimer's diagnosis now) and day jobbery. And prepping for WisCon, sort of. Who else is going this year?
