Yay! Only seven more days!
Friday, October 5th - Midnight
"Fantasy Lovers and Erotic Aliens: Queer Erotic SF/F/H"
Caro Soles, Catherine Lundoff

Saturday, October 6th - 4PM
"Lesbians in Red Shirts: Is the Lesbian Mortality Rate in SF/F/H Too High?"
Jane Fletcher, Selina Rosen, David B Coe, Catherine Lundoff

I'm also a nominee at the Spectrum Awards on Saturday night. :-D

And of course, I'm lucky enough to be reading with the fabulously talented Steve Berman and Eugie Foster at Outwrite on Thursday night, 8PM.
Very pleased about that. :-)
Also looking forward to hanging out with various and sundry cool folks, including my pal from long ago college days, Mark and his delightful partner, who I don't get to see often enough because they live in Florida.

Apart from this, I'm getting over a cold and the thought of yet another midnight smut panel makes my geriatric self groan. But then we wanted to be a professional author, now, didn't we? This is apparently something akin to being a vampire.
But hey, gruesome release at work is done without me having to go in and babysit it tomorrow at the crack of dawn. And I had a marvelous conversation with my publisher today which included the following exchange (paraphrased)-
Him: "So have you thought about going to the Lambdas next year? Seeing as "Crave" should make the nominees list?"
Me, slightly garbled, "Ah, no. I thought I'd wait and see...."(drifts off into babble). Because it hadn't really occurred to me that it might happen and I might need to plan for it. But very pleased at the notion. :-)

He's right! You should plan on going. It's too bad the finalist list doesn't come out in time to get on much of the S&S programming if you wait until then, but I don't see any way they could manage it earlier. Nominations are open until Dec. 1, and even then it's hard to get copies of books published in December sent in under the wire.

Well, due to the timing (end of May) and my budget, I will probably have the following choice: I could go to the Lammies, which are generally held somewhere obnoxiously expensive like NYC or L.A. or I can go to WIsCon. "Haunted Hearths" may be out in time for WisCon, where it will get a far better reception and sell better than at S&S. I might be able to do any 2 out of 3, depending on when my mom descends on us and where the contracting job market's at, but I definitely can't do all three in the month of May. S&S was pleasant and had many lovely moments but if I'm not on programming (and realistically, even if I am), it's not terribly useful to me for book sales so WisCon pretty much trumps it. On the other hand, it is cheaper than LA/NYC and in another pay period from WisCon so that makes easier to do than the Lammies, But the Lammies are the Lammies so we'll just have to see how things look come January. And your plans for next year, Madam?

It's utterly ridiculous that I haven't been to Gaylaxicon yet. :x Maybe next year.

Good luck with the readings and panels!
