Requiem

For a book, in this case. My lesbian erotica collection, "Crave: Tales of Lust, Love and Longing" has passed out of print. Writing it was an amazing learning experience: 10 new short stories, plus 5 reprints. The year I wrote those 10 new stories, I also wrote a novella, had a monthly writing column and wrote several additional stories, all while working a full time job and contending with chronic tendinitis. I would write a scene for a story, switch stories, write another scene, switch again, then ice my hands and arms. I don't remember much about 2006, just saying. What did I get out of it? A collection that won a Goldie Award for Lesbian Erotica and a Lesbian Fiction Reader's Choice Award. One story, "Medusa's Touch," was a finalist for a Gaylactic Spectrum Award. Two others got selected for Cleis Press' "Best Lesbian Erotica" and for Alyson Press' "Best Lesbian Erotica." And all those other stories were accepted for publication. And the stories and characters I created for "Medusa's Touch" and "Thief's Heart" we're the inspiration for two of the three novel proposals that I submitted.
So, thank you, little book. You did good.
