Last night, we got to go hear Dame A. S. Byatt speak at Hopkins Art Center. I'will admits that I couldn't manage to finish "Possession" but really liked "The Djinn in the Nightingale's Eye," so I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. But I like hearing other authors read and speak about their work, both for entertainment and for what I learn from them. Byatt did not disappoint in a free ranging discussion of her writing process, inspiration, work in progress, research methods and why opening up the Booker Prize to Americans is a bad idea (she had some good points and I'm inclined to agree). In short, I picked up three more of her books and am really looking forward to reading them.

Today, I got the email. And the call. The acquisitions editor wants all three books. :-DDD
There's a few more things to sort out before it's official and finalized but it's looking pretty damn promising. Am psyched and freaked out and all of that stuff at once.
