Mostly, it has been all about getting the novel proposal done. And I did it! Last night, except for the cover letter and final polish, while experiencing family drama! How awesome is that? So away it will go this week. If they like the proposal, I'm going to ask them to set a book deadline for me; I do better with imposed deadlines.

It has been an interesting journey on the pantser to plotter front. We'll see how it goes for the rest of the book. But thus far, I've outlined, then written the synopsis, then rewritten the first 3 sample chapters. I definitely think they've gotten stronger and I think having beta reader comments early on helped with that process. Now lets see if the acquisitions editor agrees.

Otherwise, Thursday night was an interesting bookbinding lecture, followed by a trip to Big Brain comics to spend a gift certificate. I acquired Batwoman 2 and 3, Batgirl 1, Saga 1and the first two issues of Red Sonja, because Gail Symone. Red Sonja continues not to work for me, though an interesting effort. Haven't gotten to the rest yet.

Saturday night was an experimental animation and shadow puppet show at the Open Eye Figure Theater. This was a mixed bag, as these things so often are. I really liked a couple of the pieces, so that it made it worthwhile.

Sunday, I wrote like mad, then went over to Jody Wurl's to say hi and pick up some books at book giveaway (Boneyards by Kristiine Kathyrn Rusch and and Alif the Unseen by G. Wilson, plus a historical novel for Jana). Then I made an incredible speedy stop at Uncle Hugo's where I picked up a collection of stories by Angela Carter, an anthology which had an Carter story in it that I wanted to read, Laura Lam's Pantomime, the first book of Anne Lyle's new series, Amanda Downum's The Bone Palace and Kameron Hurley's God's War. This is added to the in progress books: Sam Cameron's latest YA mystery, Susan Jane Bigelow's Broken, Tenea D. Johnson's Smoketown, Wolf Girls and Downum's The Drowning City, among others. If I only had more actual reading time, I'd be set.
