This weekend included the final revisions to my steampunk ghost story, a trip to Big Brain Comics and the MN Center for Book Arts, and a viewing of "The Hobbit."
I acquired the following at Big Brain:

• Issue #2 of the new Captain Marvel (Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel become one superhero). Liked the writing and the art. Looking forward to checking out more.
• Birds of Prey: The Death of Oracle. I suspect I will hate this one but I'm a completist and I really liked the series and Simone's writing so I'll give it a shot.
• Digger, Vol. 3. Because awesome so far. Really looking forward to this one.
• Queen and Country, Vol. 1. Started this and am now filled with apprehension. She has to hand out naked pix of herself in the first 10 pages? Seriously? Hoping this improves as it has been highly recommended.
  

The Hobbit. Didn't love this, even though I wanted to. The acting is decent and there are some nice scenes. There are also way too many battles, too much CGI and it feels bloated. I don't think this will carry for three movies, which is sad. Even Sir Ian is subdued and I didn't think that was possible.
