CSA and State Fair stuff

Yesterday was drying of lots of herbs and blanching of green beans and related activities.
Today, I've made herb bread and homemade salsa and have started my first adventure in making borscht with veggies. And salad, since there is always salad.
I was weirdly tired yesterday but seem to have bounced back today. Tonight's fun: dinner with friends, followed by Butterfly Swords with Michelle Yeoh and Donnie Yen (Wuxia rules!) and possibly Treasure Island with Eddie Izzard (as Long John Silver!), Elijah Wood and Donald Sutherland. Rubs hands together gleefully.
Then off to the MN State Fair tomorrow. For those who don't live here and are baffled by my decision to go, the State Fair here is the done thing. When you do not go, people look at you funny and regard you as not one of US, unless you are at death's door. Just about everyone goes, and I actually enjoy it. The music's often good, as is the art, the tattoos are epically awful, and there is fresh honey. And I am a crop art aficionado. Take, for example, this portrait of Brigitte Lin by David Steinlicht. It does not get more awesome than this. Plus, there will be roasted corn and the horse barns and all sorts of other things.
Sunday I'll be participating in a joint podcast between Broad Universe and the Institial Arts Foundation, followed by the Sky-Tinted Waters Book Release Party which starts at noon and will feature short readings by contributors (incl. me) and munchies.
