Wolves Conservation poll
Jul. 22nd, 2012 02:57 pmSo...the wolf conservation fundraiser is not getting quite the response that I hoped for. Several people have donated, but I still have more interesting prizes than I do donors to either wolf conservation effort. And several other authors and artists have volunteered more stuff. But before I take on anything else, I'd like to know what would make this more effective. What would make you want to donate to either wolf conservation effort (Defenders for Wildlife or the International Wolf Center)?
I totally understand simply not having the resources to participate - this is more to get a handle on whether or not I should get more giveaways or just change the structure for those who otherwise might want to participate.
Why this is important to me:
Wolves fascinate me. They have a complex social structure which allows for both pack and lone wolves (usually those looking to find a new territory). They generally mate for life, sometimes including same sex pair bonding. Alphas include both male and female wolves. They are very important to maintaining ecological balance and they are survivors: human hunting and poaching and habitat destruction haven't managed to wipe them out yet. And I wrote that book about werewolves. And I'm writing another one, so I'd like to help give back to make sure that wolves are around for generations to come.
