It's been a full year in many respects, filled with an interesting range of ups and downs, mostly ups on the writing and editing fronts. 2010 included the following writing accomplishments:
- the completion of my first novel, Silver Moon. I just got some insightful comments from my last beta reader and am updating accordingly.. Once that's done, I'm going to try querying an agent or two. I've never gone through the agent submission process before, so this promises to be interesting. It feels like a rite of passage that I need to have, though, so here's hoping 2011 is a good year in that regard.
- My first collaborative book project: the anthology Hellebore and Rue: Tales of Queer Women and Magic, which I co-edited with JoSelle Vanderhooft. This has been really interesting and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to try it. JoSelle has excellent taste and I think the end product is a fine book (we are proofing the copy even now as I as write). We're hoping to try another collaboration in the near future
- I won my second Goldie for lesbian erotica for my collection Night's Kiss. Totally pleased about this one. :-D
- Had the following stories accepted or published this year: "Tree Hugger" in Women in Uniform, then reprinted in Best Lesbian Erotica 2011; "Twelfth Night" in Best Lesbian Romance 2011; "The Letter of Marque" in Lacuna; "At Mother Laurie's House of Bliss" for Ladies of Trade Town; "The Egyptian Cat" in Tales of the Unanticipated; "3 View of the Maiden in Peril" reprinted in Northern Lights; "Reunion at St. Mary's" in Lesbian Lust.
- I also guest blogged about our lesbian wedding in Iowa at "Beyond Romance," got interviewed for "A View from The Loft," the Rainbow Writer's Newsletter, the Outer Alliance blog and Minnesota Reads, and wrote a short article for Kissed by Venus, in addition to teaching at The Loft for the second time.
- Was a guest/did readings and/or programming at the following (huge thanks to all the organizers): A-Kon 2010 in Dallas; Marscon 2010 in Minneapolis; Women's Week in Provincetown; the Queer Voices Reading Series at Hamline University; Form+Content Gallery in Minneapolis; True Colors Bookstore in Minneapolis; Readings in Lesbian and Bisexual Women's Fiction Radio Show; and, of course, WisCon.
- Saw the archive of my papers and works go "live" at Northern Illinois University SFWA Collection.
