separated an elderly gay couple, imprisoned one of them in a nursing home and sold all of their possessions while denying visitation. And this is in California, one of the more supposedly progressive states. Am wearily horrified at yet another example of why LGBTQ people actually need legal rights.

The tally:
  • One evening at Bingo-a-Go-Go. Perfectly okay benefit for good cause but found the MC.'s off-color humor got quite tiresome very quickly. Bingo remains mostly inexplicable.
  • One mostly missing wife, off agonizing over/working to meet tight deadline of super sekrit corporate project that keeps growing and growing. Why should I be the only one under the thumb of endless scope creep?
  • One gorgeous steampunky outfit achieved. The shirt has cunning little buttons with gears on them. The skirt is quite fun. The corset is stunning, though issues loom on the horizon. Getting me in and out of it is an activity that I would rather entrust to people I have met more than 2 minutes beforehand, which can be addressed at the local cons and WisCon. A-kon will be something of a problem though. Know anyone who's going who'd like to make fastening me and lacing me up (and unlacing me) one of their activities for the weekend? It will not, alas, involve sexual favors, but I'm good for chocolate or other appealing treats. Will post pics later when Jana is less crazed and can take them. It does look pretty cool, if I do say so myself.
  • Drafts of interview and article are done. Draft of new story is nearly done. Next scene of novel is in my head and will hopefully be in bytes soon.
  • The deadline for Hellebore and Rue is moving out to June 15, 2010, so if you're thinking about submitting something, please send in a query.
  • Got 2 stories submitted, one to Lacuna, one to The Little Death of Crossed Genres. Here's hoping these 2 find homes. They ran across the "too sf/f for this antho"/"wrong fit for that antho" wall on their previous ventures forth.
Now to finish up and make dinner of yummy artichoke/spinach ravioli and side salad.
