WisCon, the short version
Jun. 2nd, 2011 02:38 pmsince I will remember nothing at all if I don't post soon.
Friday, we got in around 7ish, just in time to start running into folks and hit Opening Ceremonies. I remember talking to Trisha Wooldridge from BU, Rebecca Marjesdattir, our roomie S.N. Arly and assorted other folks, then hitting the FOGCon party to say hi to Mr. Matt and others. We did some drifting about and chatting with Rachel Swirsky, Cynthia Ward and some other lovely people.
Saturday morning was a Farmer's Market run, followed by the annual getting of Tiptree shirts. I met fellow lesbian werewolf author Allison Moon and said hi to Terry Garey before heading to my 10AM panel. "Just don't be a Tool" was sparsely attended but the panel had useful comments and suggestions on promoting good audience participation and dealing with the less good variety.
The rest of Saturday was spent chatting with friends - I remember talking to David Schwartz, Haddayr Copley-Woods, Julia Starkey, Lynn Literer, Victor Raymond, John Rezmerski, Julia Rios, Brenta Blevins, Catherine Schaff-Stumpf and bunches of other folks at various points. Then we whisked Matt out for his birthday at the Nepalese place in State, went back in time for the auction and more parties.
Sunday was awesome brunch at the Orpheum with Jana, Matt and Rez. Then back for the anthology panel, which was fun and entertaining. From there it was on to the current incarnation of Not Another (insert expletive symbols) Race Panel, then the Dealer's Room and the Art Show. Then a bunch of us took Jana out for her birthday at the nearby Irish pub. Then back for the Dessert and Nisi's speech. Jana had an allergic reaction to the Ballroom so we bailed early. I went on to the Whedonistas party to say hi and drop off another box of stuff for my archive. Then went to hang out at the BU party, then the Diversicon party, then the Wyrdsmiths, but you get the idea. Had a longish chat with Mark Rich and shorter chats with other folks before collapsing.
Monday was breakfast with Stacy P., Kathy Sullivan, Jana and Julia Starkey, at various points, with much
giggling and chatting. Then more chatting in the lobby followed by second breakfast at Ella's with Shari and Steve and Matt and the kids.
All good, and looking forward to next year!
