It was a heckuva weekend. Got in Thursday and was whisked off to the hotel by the ever charming and always hot Ed, Convention Guest Liason Extraordinaire. Spent a few hours getting tidied up and tracking down old friends, then got whisked off to Outwrite Books and Cafe for the Q&A/Signing/Reading with the other guests. We all got a few minutes to answer some questions and at least offer to sign books, but really that part was Amber Benson's show. We hung out and chatted while she did all the work so not too bad of a deal. :-)
Friday morning, author Warren Rochelle and I embarked on a expedition to Little Five Points for lunch and a visit to Charis. I love the Little 5 Points area - lots of funky little shops and restaurants, and Charis Books and More is always amazing. I bought yet more books and had a lovely time with Warren. We got back to the con in time to grab dinner with my amiable co-editor, JoSelle, Julia Rios of the amazing hair and penetrating interview style and Conni Covington before going to opening ceremonies and meeting up with Steve Berman and Lee Martindale, among others. There were mass intros and a gameshow and silliness, then off to bed for me at least.
Saturday was 2 back to back readings, then a couple of panels. Everything went well and I got to meet a few more OuterAlliance folks, which was lovely. Saturday night, JoSelle and I pulled together a release party for Hellebore and Rue: Tales of Queer Women and Magic. There was chocolate and tea and JoSelle did a drawing for several lovely necklaces inspired by the stories. Julia did a live podcast, the first part of which can be heard here. Rob Gates and the marvelous folks from the Spectrum Awards dropped by to give me the good news about Haunted Hearths and Sapphic Shades. HH has now gotten the nod from the Spectrums, been a finalist for the Goldies and had several stories final for New Zealand's Vogel Awards. I'm so proud of everyone! :-)
After that, we went to the Gaylaxicon 2012 gathering (it's here in Minneapolis next year folks!) and from thence I retired to call home and chirp. Breakfast the next morning with my multi-talented (editor, martial artist, musician, singer and all around great guy) college buddy, Mark then back to the con to cheer on Warren, then off to the hotel. An excellent time all around.
