Weekend update
Apr. 3rd, 2011 12:36 pmFriday was answering pledge drive phones down at KFAI Radio, then finishing up my query, followed by dinner with a friend and Spanish practice for her upcoming trip to Costa Rica. Saturday was some editing in the morning, then off to see the King Tut exhibit at the Science Museum and "Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaoohs," narrated by none other than Christopher Lee. Both are pretty decent shows and worth seeing - I particularly liked the statue of Hatshepsut, Nofret and Akhenaten. The show is pretty light on background for Egyptian mythology though and I'm not sure how it holds up if you don't have much context. Might be worth doing a bit of brushing up beforehand so all the symbols and artwork make a bit more sense.
It did trigger an evening of B movie watching, featuring The Mummy (1999), which has its moments; The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008) which does not have moments and is an utter waste of Michelle Yeoh and Jet Li - we started watching it on 1.4 speed to make it more entertaining; and The Scorpion King (2002), which I found to be amusing veg-out fun, but alas, Jana did not. Somewhere over the course of the evening, my back started spasming again so that it is with me once more. Yay. :-(
Today is working on really digging into my new collection. I've cleared the first 1000 words on the title story and am hoping to make more progress on that.
Tomorrow is brand new job and a bold new world and all that so here's hoping my back improves.
