So Target Corp issued the usual garbage memo today about how much they looooove gay dollars and it doesn't mean they love Tom Emmer moooore. After all it's just payback for Emmer's business support in the Leg. Best Buy, Regis and Securian all also donated to MN Forward (Backward?) the PAC in question.

On the surface, Tom appears to be the usual MN GOP suit - homophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-choice, opposed to funding wacky things like healthcare and education, thinks wait staff at any given restaurant in St. Paul makes over $100,000 a year. Okay, maybe that last one is a bit special.

But here's one of the things that Tom Emmer loves and donates to. I couldn't stomach linking to their page so for that, there's Google. "Fav" quote from Bradlee Dean of You Can Run But You Can't Hide Ministry, “Muslims are calling for the executions of homosexuals in America. This just shows you they themselves are upholding the laws that are even in the Bible of the Judeo-Christian God, but they seem to be more moral than even the American Christians do, because these people are livid about enforcing their laws. They know homosexuality is an abomination.”

I can hardly wait to find out what other fun things Bradlee believes and Tom enthusiastically supports! I'm guessing that anyone nonfundie-flavored Christian could easily make the list of other abominations that need to be exterminated. Women who wear pants or can form full sentences without permission. Anyone who makes under a $100,000 a year. NonRepublicans. The list could be endless!

If you live in Minnesota or even if you don't, Emmer has a full slate of opponents. Please consider actively supporting one of them to the degree you can. The place won't be worth living in if he wins.

Yeah, "we don't care if he hates homos or not so long as he preserves our corporate welfare benefits" isn't really a way to win my business, Target.

Just for the record, I love gay dollars too.
They are so flamboyant and cheerful.
Not like those drab, ordinary, straight dollars at all.

It will be interesting to see if the internal GLBT council
at Target continues to put any pressure on upper management,
or if they are revealed as just another token gesture with no
teeth.

Killing people is an abomination, too, but it doesn't seem to be stopping these people from considering it. It IS odd that they never remember the bit about the abomination of wearing mixed-fibre clothes, like cotton/poly. It's right in there with the other abominations. Good old Leviticus and Deuteronomy--anyone looks at you funny, kill 'em.
