Can only be dealt with by reading an Amelia Peabody novel from cover to cover.

"Peabody!"

I love those books. They are indeed medicinal.

And when all else fails, there's "Legend in Green Velvet" which is one of her standalone mysteries. I can vouch that it holds up well to repeated readings. :-)

Which one?

(And yes, I totally agree. Having had a few of those in my reading pile recently.)

Just read "River in the Sky" which is the latest. It's a prequel and kind of familiar in a "I think I've read this before" but pleasant if you're already hooked on the characters. :)

River in the Sky - it's for series completists but entertaining. :)

That sounds about what I was expecting, yeah. I felt the same way about her last Vicky Bliss book! And the last couple of Amelias haven't been nearly as entertaining as most of the series.

I do wonder if Ms. Peters is losing a bit of her former spark as she's getting old. She's gotta be up there in years at this point.

I dunno - if I'm still cranking out a book or two a year well into my 70s and they continue to have a rabid following, I'll be a happy woman. One could do a lot worse. :-)
