Steampunky goodness or The Outfit
May. 11th, 2010 08:19 pmSo here's an initial couple of photos. They don't do it justice (doubleclick if you're curious about the larger versions) so we'll work on getting better ones but you get the idea. Heather at Scoundrelle's Keep did a bang-up job. I particularly adore the chatelaine that came with the corset so we'll have to see about a better photo for that. There are also cunning little gears on the blouse buttons. Also not terribly visible but key to the ensemble when viewed in person: one necklace ("Salvage and Sensibility" from the incomparable elisem), one pair earrings from Persephone Plus, one Victorian hair fork from rivkasmom, gloves from Dent's in London by way of the V&A gift shop, and these boots in black. The necklace and the earrings came first and were purchased awhile back. Then the boots. Then the rest of the outfit. I like to plan these things out, as you can tell (not to mention budgeting for them). Thank you, temporary corporate overlords.

Date: 2010-05-22 12:56 am (UTC)Was trying to figure out what the corset is made of...
Looks like a dress rather than shirt and skirt - very well coordinated. Thanks for posting the pix, sorry I've been away so long and didn't get a chance to comment till now.

Date: 2010-05-22 02:33 am (UTC)The corset has metal ribs covered with a black silk brocade, backed with several layers of rather sturdy cloth. It fastens up the front with metal grommets and laces up the back in the usual way. It makes breathing seem...overrated. I'm curious to find out what it will be like to wear for hours at a time - I'll get to find out at WisCon next weekend. Should be interesting.
