Benefits and such

I've been asked to donate a copy of one of my books for the terribly cool annual Bingo-A-Go-Go with Miss Richfield 1981 as part of the "Minnesota Authors" prize, which will also include books by Ellen Hart, C.M. Harris, Robert Alexander, Catherine Friend and others. The event will be at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 17th at 6PM and the proceeds benefit Claire Housing and Park House, two great organizations which provide services to folks living with HIV/AIDS. And the event this year has an sf/f theme. I'm really thrilled to be participating (and will be donating a signed copy of Night's Kiss). :-D

Another very cool benefit that's gearing up right now: author Jim Hines is raffling off a signed advance copy of Red Hoods' Revenge. He's asking you to make a donation to the Rape Abuse Incest National Network or your local rape crisis center in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (also known as "April"). Check out the details here: Jim Hine's LiveJournal and here's the graphic that accompanies it.

And another plug:
Sunday morning, I'll be answering phones for KFAI's Spring Pledge Drive. KFAI is a volunteer-run, member supported radio station. They're local but do have web streaming. Programming covers everything from Democracy Now to R&B to Cajun to Somali Voices to Fresh Fruit, one of the longest running LGBT radio programs in the country. They've done more to shape my musical taste in the last 12 years than almost anything else. Please check them out and pledge - it's been a rough year for nonprofits.

Apart from all of that, the week has included my birthday, which featured a lovely dinner with friends and many well wishes, and the Tales of the Unanticipated Benefit at The Loft. If you're looking for a good sf/f publication to subscribe to, TOTU is a good one to check out.
Other than that, the day job is kicking my butt but I'm finally over my cold and have an actual day off to use for catch-up.
Upcoming tomorrow night: Roller Derby at Roy Wilkins with snurri, haddayr and my beloved. Huzzah! :-) Posts with U.K. trip photos, actual writing updates and other stuff later on this weekend.
