Random Thanksgiving thoughts

I'm at home having a mellow, headachey day with Jana and the kitties.
Accomplished so far:

• The making of fresh cranberries with walnuts
• The baking of pumpkin pie with fair trade succanat, just for variety
• Laundry
• Composting and recycling
• beginnings of much needed cleaning and straightening of nightmarish squalor in which we live.
• The watching of An Affair to Remember. My mother's low opinion of the film, expressed as something along the lines of "utterly worthless," pretty much on target.

Yet to do:

• Cooking of Cornish game hens (much easier to deal with than turkey for 2).
• Getting back to someone on some projects in progress.
• Filling out of yet more health plan forms for work. Hey, whaddaya know, my costs are going way up in 2010. Who could have seen that coming? :-(
• More cleaning and fixing up.
• Actual writing, which I hear is what writers do.

Things to be thankful for:

• My wonderful wife
• My terrific friends and family.
• Rescue kitties and the people who rescue them and foster them.
• Fandom
• Independent bookstores and presses and the readers who buy from them.
• The Iowa Supreme Court.
• Anyone who organized or participated in a fundraiser for someone facing huge medical bills, foreclosure and/or the other traumatic events of Economic Downturn 2009.

And assorted other things. Here's hoping that you're having a good holiday and that the rest of the season treats you well!

Oh dear, headaches are no good. I'm glad you have a wonderful wife and kitties, though! I hope you are eating excellent food.

Thanks! :-) We did, actually - the pies and the hens turned out particularly well. How was yours?

My sister and her roommate brought us a nice plate of leftovers from the dinner they attended, so I had some tasty turkey and squash and potatoes, which was really nice after the ordeal of the ER and all that.
