Why is it that...
Nov. 27th, 2006 09:17 pmI feel lots more pain after visiting my chiropracter/acupuncturist? I must do terrible things to myself the rest of the time judging from how I feel right now. Ouch!
The holidays were pleasant, in part because we had excellent company. Hi
elisem! In 4 short days, we got to check out the fab lacquerwork box exhibit at the Museum of Russian Art and watched my favorite Tamil movie (okay, the only Tamil movie I've ever seen :-) "Kandukondain Kandukondain," which is Austen's "Sense and Sensibility" transplanted to contemporary India with much singing and dancing and costume changes. We also managed to attend the giant soiree some of our friends from India held for their kid's birthday (who wouldn't want to invite 150 of their closest friends to their one year old's b-day?), then followed it up with an evening of some of the worst Western cinema has to offer - "Glen or Glenda" and "Blackula." It helps to watch them in that order. Really. Otherwise it doesn't bear thinking about. Poor Bela...
Brunch the next day with jolly companions helped soften the horror.
I did manage to finish a draft of a story, "Three Views of the Maiden in Peril" which needs to go out sometime soon to the lovely editor who asked for one of my fantasy stories without sex in it. But found that I was too fried to do that this weekend. Or to finish buiilding my new website. Ah well.
In other news, my day job has gotten very Italian Renaissance, only with less in the the way of interesting cultural artifacts. It never occurred to me until this weekend that somewhere in the court of the Borgias, there was probably some chamberlain or other functionary wandering around mumbling, "Poison them or don't poison them but make up your mind!" I'm channelling that person now. Very twisted. :-(
