catherineldfMy amiable bride has taken her mother-in-law out while I bask in the thrill of slowly, oh so slowly, diminishing pain. Sigh.
A couple of random wedding snippets before attempting to clean up a bit around here:
1. One of our wedding guests won a MacArthur Genius Award on Monday! Huge, huge congrats to Tim Barrett! :-DDD
Tim was Jana's former professor, turned boss at the U. of Iowa Paper Facility, when we lived in Iowa City. He's a great guy and the award is richly deserved. And Monday was also his birthday - how cool is that?
2. Our officiant, terrific poet John C. Rezmerski, used 2 quotes in the ceremony:
“Two human loves make one divine.”—Elizabeth Barrett Browning
“Love doesn’t just sit there, like a stone; it has to be made, like bread, remade all the time, made new.”—Ursula K. LeGuin
3. Multi-talented book artist and teacher Emily Martin made a delicious three tier wedding cake for us from all soy ingredients so as to avoid triggering our dairy allergies.
4. Ours was the second lesbian wedding party in the same weekend to be booked into the Brown Street Inn in Iowa City. Innkeepers Mark and Bob will be getting married in November.
More snippets soon. Am still awfully groggy.
