Got to reserve our first choice for the reception, namely one of the pretty, pretty park shelters down at Wabun by the Falls, the ones with the (mostly) accessible restrooms, electricity and running water. Even got it on the day we wanted, though earlier than Jana had in mind.
We spent Saturday looking at area parks and this was far and away our top pick. V. pleased. :-D

The rest of the weekend was spent listening to author Brenda Adcock talk about her work at True Colors and trying to wrestle my class outline and reading excerpts into line for my Loft class next week. Will post werewolf update soon too, since there's one of those as well.

This must be the mecca of parks for weddings and recommitments. I just went there for a betrothal, and I'm going next month to a vow renewal in the same park pavilions.

It is, hands down, the prettiest one I think, but then it's also new and the area is pretty spectacular. :-)

Heh. I'm sort of a grinch regarding pretty weddings in general, though I honestly wish the best for couples I know. When my piece on that subject goes live in my column ("Sex Is All Metaphors") August 1, please know that it's not a swipe at you.

Rest assured, it won't be that pretty. This is for the reception, which is just going to be a light picnic with tea. The wedding's in Iowa at a location which will probably be someone's back yard. No merengue dresses, giant bouquets, cheesy 70s style musicians or even weeping moms.
