This list rocks, and not merely because I think I was the original proposer on one of them. :-) There's a couple of favorites I'd like to see on it but I'll be checking out the ones I'm not familiar with here too.
Read the blog for more info - I'm just rambling about favorites.
11. God Stalk by P.C. Hodgell - I love this series. Best world building, best sword and sorcery style writing and most compelling characters of any fantasy series I've ever fallen in love with.

10. A Door into Ocean by Joan Slonczewski- haven't read this one and no doubt should.

9. Herland by Charlotte Perkins Gilman - own it, read excerpts. On the list and moving up.

8. Fire Logic by Laurie J. Marks - just read it and enjoyed it. Didn't love it quite as much as I'd hoped but I understand why everyone else loves it.

7. The Fox Woman by Kij Johnson - haven't read this one yet.

6. The Shadow Speaker by Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu - haven't gotten to this one yet but I've heard wonderful things.

5. Bone Dance by Emma Bull - wow. I love this one. Weird, quirky, mostly gender neutral sf novel.

4. Zahrah The Windseeker by Nnedi Okorafor-Mbachu - same as above

3. Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner - a classic of its kind. I enjoyed it mightily when it first came out.

2. Midnight Robber</> by Nalo Hopkinson - loved this one too. Original and engaging.

1. Solstice by Ulises Silva - haven't read this but am so tracking it down. Read the description - all will become clear.

And 2 favorites of mine on the extended but not the short list:
Stranger at the Wedding by Barbara Hambly. - Terrific fantasy novel. The whole young wizard returns home to confront past thing will never quite be the same again. This is an excellent novel.
Fool's War by Sarah Zettel - This one rocks. A devout Muslim starship captain (female) and a very different kind of AI work together to save the day.

Some amazing books out there, folks.
