Assuming your state is having a primary. If you’ve ever met me, it should be no big surprise that I’m a huge Elizabeth Warren fan, so naturally I think you should vote for her. The primary process is at way too early a stage to call it for any of the candidates and Warren has run a thoughtful, well-planned campaign that reflects well on the kind of administration that she’d run. For most of my adult life, I was told that women were unelectable (also LGBTQ candidates, candidates of color, religious minorities, etc.) and I’m really tired of it. I don’t trust Bloomberg and have very strong concerns about the capabilities of Sanders and Biden, regarding all three as “unelectable” for a wide variety of reasons, first and foremost being that they speak to and for a limited portion of the electorate and are terrible at reaching beyond it. That said, no matter who wins the nomination, voter suppression is a very real problem and any progressive platform has to include ways to get ids to voters, to get people registered, to fight gerrymandering, etc. Down ballot races are also critical: your local politicians have a giant impact on your daily life and the best President can’t do much with a uncooperative Congress. So please vote today or whenever your state holds elections and consider the big picture as much as you can.
