California tries to be a green state and the apartment complex in which I live, for all their horrid management, has implemented many energy saving devices: changing the light fixtures in all apartments to use energy saving bulbs, changing all the bathroom and kitchen fixtures to more water saving models, changing the toilet to a more water efficient model. California has outlawed plastic bags in stores and shoppers must pay for the reusable bags.
Personally, I recycle all my cans, plastics, and glass. And both of my cars are Priuses.
