Nothing makes a migraine better quicker than an acceptance or two, I always say. :-D
I just had 2 stories accepted over at Anthology Builder (http://www.anthologybuilder.com/show_author_stories.php?author_id=148) this morning. Anthology Builder ([profile] anthobuilder) is a new POD service for science fiction and fantasy reprints. Stories must be reprints you got paid for and retain rights on, in the sf/f genre and under 50,000 words. Erotica or stories with "excessive violence or sexuality" (not defined) are not accepted.
Readers can select the stories they like (up to 350 pages) and order a perfect bound copy for $14.95. I ordered one while I was submitting things so I could check it out; I'll post again when it shows up.
I sent in two humorous short fantasy pieces: "At the Roots of the World Tree," which was a finalist for the 2005 Spectrum Award for Short Fiction (plot synopsis - gay bookstore clerk runs afoul of the Norns) and "The Temporary," (the nightmare of clerical temping) which was published 2 or 3 times and shortlisted for 'Best of the Rest 2." Neither one has any sex or violence in it so I don't know what the limits are to that part of the guidelines.
At any rate, go check it out. If the service takes off, it could be a nice boon to both readers and writers.
