So yesterday, completely out of the blue, I get asked to be a judge for a novel writing contest, sponsored by the East Texas chapter of RWA. Why? Honestly, I don't really know. But figured that since it's only a few entries, I'll give it a whirl.
This was followed by being contacted by MySpace by a writerly acquaintance who just set up a new lesbian/bi women's arts and writing site. She wants me to pull together an all about me type thing so I can be a featured author.
Keeps it lively. :-)

Thanks! :-D
It promises to be an interesting experience.
BTW, you going to post pix of the Loteria cards? Those are always fun.

I was thinking of doing Manuel's spread and posting a pick of that.

Then maybe I'll take the cards and make a table top with them (I have a "project" pattern for one with Tarot.) And maybe I'll actually learn to read them...not quite the same as other divination cards. They weren't really meant for that...but they are so cool.

Very cool. Judging a novel contest sounds like it could be very interesting. (Although I had a professor who claimed it was just tedious.)

Definite signs of making it, for various values of "it", anyway; the East Texas RWA part sounds intriguing, and you're certainly featured author material.

Fortunately,RWA contests are a generally a sample chapter and a book synopsis, limited to 25 pages or so. I don't really have time to breath, let alone read several full novels in 2 weeks. This was the big selling point, from my standpoint. :-)

How interesting. My friend, the one I call KC, is involved with the West Houston RWA and she helped judge for the Emily. The first round anyway. I imagine they get NY editors to judge the finalists.

Kind of like skiffy cons, there's a contest every week so I think the smaller ones take whoever they can get. The main erotica judge for this one is (or was, not sure about that part) someone from Ellora's Cave.
I'm just going to do my bit and wallow in the irony. :-)
