Jana and I made dinner for us and Mom - Cornish game hen in an apricot glaze, mashed potatoes, stewed yams and apples, fresh cranberries with walnuts and pumpkin pie. Then we watched Excalibur because Mom was excited about it. The copy turned out to have sound issues but Helen Mirren and Nicol Williamson were terrific anyway. Spent Friday eating breakfast at Modern Times Cafe, and running errands at Ingebretson's and Covet Consignment, where I comished a custom bookcase from a local woodworker. Then back home to clean the house, purge some books (we've exceeded carrying capacity and I need to shrink things down to make space for said new bookcase) and write.
Saturday was breakfast at Trotter's Cafe in St. Paul, followed by a trip to Tea Source and Amour Sophie, a fun little pop-up store around the corner from Sister's Sludge Coffee that sells locally-made furniture and jewelry. We had a bunch of friends over for tea and social time, then went with a few of them to see Catching Fire (well-done, not cheery). Today has been a semi-migraine day, but despite it all, I'm close to breaking the 40,000 word mark on the SF novel. And now, back to work.
