Oh look, Monday again
Sep. 24th, 2012 07:29 pmThe weekend was very lively. Friday night, we took in The Avengers, for a second time. It was still fun, though less of a surprise. As a bonus we ran into an old friend we hadn't seen in forever at the Riverview so we got to hang out with her and her friend and start to get caught up.
Saturday was the Twin Cities Arts and Crafts Festival, where I acquired an (edited) copy of The Arabian Nights, illustrated by Maxfield Parrish, a delightful looking book called The Motor Maids Across the Continent by Katherine Stokes, about a group of young women traveling by car across the US (bonus: it's 1914 and they actually know how to fix it!), a pin for my mom and a mad desire for a new purse from Archive Edition Textiles. The latter will wait until after I deal with more of the must-have list though.
Sunday, I got in some cleaning and some writing. Our friend Dave came by to help with priming the porch for painting and got stuck with quite a bit of it since the fumes set my chemical allergies off. Bleah. But he and Jana finished it up and hopefully we can get it painted before it gets cold. I made borscht and herb bread from our CSA bounty and Jana made stewed apples so it was a lovely post-priming local dinner all around.
This week will include work adventures (stressful, but not amazingly so) and plumbing fun (the bathroom sink has decided to give up the ghost). And a completed draft of a short story that I'm going to finish no matter what.
But the week's big plan is checking out The Good Fight at Theater Unbound next weekend. This is the true story of a woman named Grace Roe who organized a group of women martial artists to defend the Pankhurst Sisters and other prominent suffragists. We're going on Sunday, Sept. 30th if anyone would care to join us.
