Occupy Sandy is a new coalition in the New York/New Jersey area which is working to get food, supplies, clothes and assistance into the areas hardest hit by Sandy. They're using Amazon.com's wedding registry to help people donate to the cleanup/rehousing/gaps not filled by the Red Cross, etc. effort. http://www.amazon.com/registry/wedding/2FDVT8QGKJFYR

Locally, Covet Consignment on Chicago and 38th in Minneapolis us doing monthly local artist's opening (Covet also does framing). There's one going on tonight between 6 and 9 for printmaker Kate Quale. Check out the events at www.covetconsignanddesign.com.
Wing Young Huie's Third Place Gallery, right next door to Covet, is also hosting an opening tonight.
Do come by and check out our new little arts district - there's two galleries, Covet and Blue Ox Coffee plus the Fire Arts Centrr and its gallery across the street, all in what used to be boarded up buildings. We're really liking the neighborhood changes down our way.
