Post-birthday
Mar. 31st, 2011 07:32 amHad a most excellent birthday yesterday, involving breakfast at Hell's Kitchen, book shopping at Uncle Hugo's and James and Mary Laurie's and afternoon tea at Lady Elegant's. The evening was spent listening to Joyce Carol Oates read from her memoir, which had moments of great pathos and some humor. I asked her to sign my copy of Stirring Up a Storm, the Marilyn Jaye Lewis antho in which I get to share a TOC with her,Margaret Atwood and Dorothy Allison, and she did, with a certain amount of confusion. I gather it was an agent-negotiated deal and she'd either not seen it or forgotten about it. But hey, still shiny. Then there was tea and chocolate mousse. And an amazing amount of well wishes, which was absolutely lovely.
Today I need to do new job paperwork to be followed by lots and lots of writing, editing and house cleaning. Tomorrow morning, I work the phones for KFAI's Pledge Drive then back home for more of the same.
Updates to follow as I get things done.
