Stuff and more stuff
Apr. 12th, 2010 08:14 pmFeeling a bit better than I did a few nights ago but haven't started the next round of appointment scheduling yet. Part of me wants to wait to see what my test results from Saturday look like, though the next round isn't dependent on them. Ah well, will try and carve out time tomorrow.
In local news, I just learned that Arise Bookstore and Resource Center is closing this month. Arise is a collectively-run space, providing meeting rooms and offices to the Women's Prison Book Project, and at one point or another, the Minnesota Green Party and Twin Cities United Against Police Brutality, among others. It sold books, zines, buttons and all kinds of other weird and wonderful things. Shortly after I moved to the Twin Cities 13 years ago, I joined the collective and worked a monthly shift at the store for several years. I met a lot of good friends and got to participate in some good work. I'm really going to miss the place. They are having weekend sales until they close and are requesting donations to help with the store debt (see the website for more info).
The reading I'll be doing with Carrie Devall on April 28th at Hamline has its own page now: Queer Voices Reading. Yay! :-)
And as a direct result of the Hamline/Intermedia Arts publicity, I've been asked to be a featured author out at Minnesota Reads. MN Reads is a terrific blog about local writers, local writing culture and books. Plus they paraphrase Moxy Fruvous so you know they're cool. I'll be posting a link when the interview is done and live.
Still wrestling with my article on lesbian protagonists and such. Werewolves are progressing as is the next short story due in the near future. Huzzah.
