Random things of interest and importance:

Washington, D.C.passes marriage equality. And the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington announces that they're going to cut funding to their shelters and food programs to punish the city's poor since, you know, that's what Jesus would do. HRC is doing a email campaign against it here.

In Other Words Bookstore in Portland, Oregon could use some support. Seeing as we've just lost Lambda Rising and Out Word Bound, it'd be nice to keep a few LGBT and feminist bookstores around.

Livejournal contemplates implementing, then backs down, on a binary gender selection field - specifics here, among other places.
Because, you know, there can be only two, regardless of all evidence to the contrary. And that's what Jesus would do...oh wait...

And I know I'm late on this one, too - information and fundraising link for author Dr. Peter Watts, detained and beaten by U.S. Border Patrol.

For Twin Cities locals, the Queer Voices LGBT Reading Series at Hamline tonight is featuring poetry and cello by Ilze Mueller, Sheila Packa and Kathy McTavish, which looks terrific.

Rain Taxi Review of Books, the little review journal that could, is doing its annual fundraising auction out here. Some good stuff to be had.

And finally, happy birthday Jane Austen, born this day 1775. I still like my Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion best without monsters. Thanks for the many wonderful hours of reading, Ms. Austen!
