Which so far has involved dealing with the tax software so Jana can finish her taxes, TaxCut having cleverly installed a mandatory update that required a full system upgrade in order to get the damn thing functioning again, mere weeks before Tax Day. But I was bribed with Chinese takeout and was then able to use my superpowers for good and figure out what the problem was despite no help or information from the twits at H&R Block. No love for them.
But I digress.  Saturday involved a fab lunch with many lovely people at the Midtown Global Market. I was showered with general good will, wonderful cards and beautiful things which included homemade fudge, a gorgeous Terry Garey quilted wall hanging on the theme of coffee worship (she has my number), a copy of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies which I'm enjoying immensely, and a very useful gift card. And apple butter. Lunch was followed eventually by dinner with a much smaller crew at a nice little cafe we're very fond of and lively conversations about IT and spirituality. I have awesome friends. Just saying.
Today was brunch with the local kinky book club where we talked about Donna Storey's novel, The Amorous Woman. It was a hit, a palpable hit! Which I was glad of, a) because I think it's terrific and b) because I'd recommended it to them and it's always nice when that works well.:-)
Then we dropped off some used books at True Colors Bookstore for them to resell before heading to the MIA to see the book arts exhibit. The woman working the coat check turned out to be one of Jana's students from some point in recent history and greeted her with, "Oh cool! Book arts!"
I've suggested a name change is in order. She's resistant.
Post museum, it was off to Big Brain Comics where I scored a Ted Naifeh Courtney Crumrin graphic novel that I didn't know was out yet, the last couple of Gail Simone Birds of Prey books that I was missing and a Batwoman action figure. Why yes, I am a geek! Thank you for noticing.
Somewhere in there was a trip to a used bookstore and really good chai at a local cafe.
And my mom sent me a copy of The Element Encyclopedia of Secret Societies because she figured I "could use it for something or other." :-D
Tomorrow, car tune-up, massages and perhaps dinner with a visiting celebrity (you know who you are).
Then back to work where we will figure out how to get a brand new thing out the door very, very quickly on an app none of us really knows how to use. But I'm going to forget about that for as long as I can.
