from the depths of my newly caught cold. Bleah.
Have survived the first reading of the year (with Nell Stark at True Colors - very well attended and quite fun)  and the first rejection of the year ("Prince in Exile" again, this time from Interfictions 2).
Next up, podcasting. Then reading at the Smitten Kitten. Then Marscon.
In between bouts of houseguests, readings, illness and work, got some more writing done on the werewolves as well as some work done on the steampunk story and a start to a theater romance story to submit for this year's Best Lesbian Romance.

Mostly, I'm trying to read my way through the zillions of books accumulated in the last couple of years. We're officially out of space so I have to slow way down on the buying and work on the reading. Thus far, I'm thinking that Phyllida and the Brotherhood of Philander was not the best place to start, except for the fact that it will end up in the giveaway pile quite soon, thus reducing the number of books in the house. Then I'll have to cleanse my brain with A.S. Byatt or Angela Carter.

On another topic, I'm looking at one of those amazingly irritating emails of the following flavor: newbie writer unknown to me picks my email off an article that I wrote and writes me on the assumption that there is nothing I'd rather been doing than reading said writer's draft erotica piece (the very first one, ever!). Since you know, I've got nothing better to do, like, I dunno, perhaps my own work. Note to newbie writers: assume that unless expressly invited to do so, sending this sort of email is a BAD idea. For one thing, do you really want to send your work off to a pro of uncertain temperament (as are we all from time to time) for a first critique?  There are excellent reasons for writers to develop writing groups of their peers; explore them.

Now for Nyquil...
