Random cool things run across

We have an almost thaw going on out there and I'm moved to look for new and interesting sources of inspiration. Almost like it was Spring but there's at least 2 more months of cold to go...

The Flaming Lotus Girls Collective are a group of (primarily) women artists who make metal pyrotechnic sculptures. Amazing stuff...

The City of Women Festival is a multi-week, multi-venue dance/performance/music festival of work by women artists centered in Ljubljana, Slovenia. I don't think I can pronounce the city's name properly but I'd love to go to this sometime.

Humanwine is a progressive steampunk-influenced band who tour in a former school bus refitted with recycled materials and form new 'bands' every time they perform. The lead singer reminds me a bit of  Emma Härdelin from Garmarna (this is very high praise!).

The Wicked Winter Renaissance Faire mostly makes me wish I had an excuse and money to be in New Jersey next month.  It's a Ren Faire gone somewhere verrrry interesting. Check out the performer list, et al. I gnash my teeth with jealousy. Sigh.

Accomplished so far this weekend:
Taxes halfway done
Snow and Ice Sculpture shows at St. Paul Winter Carnival examined and assessed. We liked the snow ones better.
Re-watching of "Cold Comfort Farm" (one of the finest films ever! No, really!) and the A&E Scarlet Pimpernel with friends.
800 words or so on new pirate novella.
Next up: werewolves and new steampunk story that keeps popping back up in the brain.
