The things you find...
Oct. 18th, 2008 12:59 pmwhen you vanity surf.
A kind soul out on the Asimov's blog, one StevenLP (http://www.asimovs.com/aspnet_forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=65&Page=4) listed my story "Three Views of the Maiden in Peril," published in Farrago's Wainscot (http://www.farragoswainscot.com/2008/6/three_views.html) as one of his "Best of 2008" stories. This is the sort of thing that makes one's week. :-D
He also gave a nice plug to Periphery so yay for Mr. StevenLP!
Apart from that, first week of new job went okay. The new place has incredible ergonomics, which is a lovely, lovely change and very nice for my arms and shoulders. There's also not much screaming and yelling, at least so far, so it's already a giant step up from the last gig. Feeling optimistic and honeymoonish. :-)
Spending today trying to conquer my mystery illness (sore throat, low energy, blah) and finish drafting out my Bush Foundation Grant proposal, due in a few short weeks. I'm resurrecting an older project that I'll talk about in a bit when I get it further along.
Almost done with rewriting "The Prince in Exile" and getting it back out the door.
I'm due to go work pledge drive over at KFAI tomorrow morning, assuming mystery ailment is not contagious and is waning. KFAI (http://www.kfai.org/) is a terrific volunteer run radio station with an amazing range of programming in numerous languages and for many different cultures, including hosting the longest running LGBT radio show in the country. They're amazingly cool so if you have a few bucks left over (and yeah, I know), they could really use it to stay on the air and up their signal.
And tomorrow afternoon at 3PM, Kate Bornstein at True Colors Bookstore (formerly known as Amazon Feminist Bookstore)! http://www.amazonbookstorecoop.com/
