3 more to go, plus extraneous events. Feeling a tad under the weather so I'll be sticking with a day and a half of 4th Street Fantasy and skipping today.
I got to see some folks I hadn't expected to see, which was lovely, and to meet some new folks, which was also lovely, though I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to talk to some of them as much as I would have liked, what between one thing and another. Hi [profile] muneraven and Marissa. :-) And I'm sorry I didn't get around to introducing myself to some others. I hope to make up for that at subsequent events.
Apart from that, the Friday night Elisian soiree went well and was quite a bit of fun. I may be getting a new author photo out of it, but we're waiting to see how that turned out. There were many shinies and yummy munchies and all was good. The Saturday morning panel on rewrites was all that convention panels on such topics generally are and seemed to go reasonably well. Caught part of the Chewy Bits panel which was a bit all things to all people but had some interesting moments. Took some folks off for Tibetan food and an impromptu War for the Oaks tour of Minnehaha Falls. I unfortunately began feeling unwell right about then so I didn't enjoy this as much as was warranted but still had a fine time.
Then it was back to the con for a spot of wandering and hanging out before going to a very nice dinner with some friends old and new. And back again for the "Food, Fashion and Fornication" panel.
This one, honestly, I could have easily skipped and been neither missed nor missed it. Some of this was due to me not feeling well, of course, some to circumstances to do with the kind of con it is and some due to behaviors I'll post on later in a more general way. Not unspeakably wretched but far from as much fun as it could have been.
Overall, given what I'd been told about the previous incarnation of 4th Street before I got there, it was a pleasant enough convention and I'd recommend it to anyone interested in the attending authors. There's a lot of opportunity to talk to people, some of whom are quite interesting and the one program track certainly provides the opportunity for concentrating on a range of topics. And it'll be back next year. :-)
And now to go unpack from several weekends in a row of feverish activity and plan for next Thursday's reading at DreamHaven.
